Ashura Ceremony
The Ashura Ceremony in 2008 was held on 10/02/2008 at No. 15/32 5th Lane, Weeramal Mawatha, Kohilawatte. In addition to recital of Ashura, contest for children of various age groups was held followed by Bayan by prominent Moulavis.
The Chief Guest was the 1st Secretary of The High Commission for Malaysia in Sri Lanka Saudara Akmal Abdul Manap and his wife. More than 300 invitees attended the function.
Bayans Ceremony
Bayans Ceremonies were held on 22/06/2008, 3/08/2008 and 28/12/2008. These were held at the Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Kotikawatte and WAMY Hall, Gotatuwa. These Bayan Ceremonies were well attended and all invitees appreciated the day's programs.
Ifthar Ceremony
The IFTHAR Ceremony was held on 20/09/2008 at the Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Kotikawatte. More than 250 guests attended the Ceremony. Bayans were delivered by learned Moulavis.
At the invitation of the Ambassador for Indonesia in Sri Lanka saudara Emran and saudara Razack Annon attended to the Ifthar Ceremony at the Ambassador's Residence.
Cultural & Sports Activities
SPORTO RAMA RALLY
At the invitation of the Mabole Malay Association, Pertubuhan Bangsa Melayu participated in the SPORTO RAMA RALLY on 17/02/2008 and our members took part in the various competitions.
Social & Other Activities
Accommodation for Visiting Students
Bangsa Melayu Sri Lanka provided accommodation for 6 Malaysian students (4 females & 2 Males) who were on a visit to
Sri Lanka under the students exchange program. They were accommodated for 2 days at the Secretary's Residence. No.15/32 5th Lane, Weeramal Mawatha, Kohilawatte.
The Association hosted the students for dinner on the 2nd day. The President of COSLAM saudara
T.K. Azoor & some Committee Members were present on the occasion.
Donation of 4 Tambourines
As our Association was using Dharmapala Vidyalaya Hall for our various functions we donated 4 Tambourines to the school as requested by the Principal.
Distribution of Qurban Meat
On 10/12/2008 our Association distributed Qurban Meat to our members given by AL SHABAB.
The organization of Bangsa Melayu engages with all activities in Social, Economical, Cultural, Fund Raising, Employment, Educational, Religious and Sports for the benefits of the Malay Community. As examples we are organizing ASHURA, BAYANS. IFTHAR Ceremonies, Sporto Rama Rally, Donations, Trips, Committee Meetings, Get togethers .......
