Ifthar Ceremony
The Ifthar Ceremony was held on 28th August 2009 at the Dharmapala Vidyalaya. Bayans were delivered by Moulavi Muzni Ameer and Moulavi Mahir. More than 300 invitees attended the ceremony.
Ifthar Ceremony at Mattegoda was held on 5th September 2009. Committee members attended the ceremony.
Ifthar Ceremony of the Indonesian Embassy was held on 18th September 2009 at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel. Saudara Emran and Saudara Razack attended the ceremony.
Ifthar Ceremony of Kumpulan Melayu, Kotokawatte was held on 5th September 2009. Some of our committee attended to the ceremony.
Ashura Ceremony
The ASHURA Ceremony was held on 8/02/2009 at No. 15/32 5th Lane, Weeramal Mawatha, Kohilawatte.
Bayans were delivered by prominent Moulavis. Discussion on Religious matter were held and the Moulavis answered questions raised by the members of the audience.
The Chief Guest at the Ceremony was saudara Tahang, Political Affairs Officer of the Embassy for Indonesia in Sri Lanka. The President and his family members of the Kadawatha/Kiribathgoda Malay Association. Members of Kumpulan Melayu, Battaramulla, Saudara Arifin of SLUMO, Saudara T.P.Z. Ahamath of Kolonnawa Malays and Saudara B.D.K. Saldin. More than 300 invitees attended the Ceremony.
Cultural & Sports Activities
Bangsa Melayu Sports Club
At the request of the youths of Bangsa Melayu the Committee of Management decided to establish a Sports Club. Accordingly the inaugural meeting of the Sports Club was held 21st June 2009 at No. 15/32 5th Lane, Weeramal Mawatha, Kohilawatte and the office bearers were elected. On a suggestion made by saudara Farun Mass Aron it was decided to name the Club as " Bangsa Melayu Sports Club"
Royston Lye Trophy
On 05/03/2009 our Association participated in the six a side Cricket tournment for the Royston Lye Trophy. Unfortunately due to an umpire's desicion we lost the tournament.
Social & Other Activities
Distribution of Qurban Meat
On 29/11/2009 Qurban Meat given by Al Shabab was distributed to our members.
Distribution of Fithra
55 Parcels containing provision donated by MFCD was distributed among our members. This was organized by saudara T.S. Kamaldeen on 12/09/2009.
20 Parcels containing rice was distributed to our members on 19/19/2009. This was organized by saudara Tuan N. Thahireen.
Trip to Niwasipura
Saudara Emran, Saudara Ramdeen, Saudara T.S. Kamaldeen and Saudari Asha Dhalley visited NIwasipura, Ekala to organize a Bayan Ceremony on 18/10/2009.
Donation of Sports Goods
Some Committee members went to Moho on 25/10/2009 to donate Sports Goods requested by the Youths.
The organization of Bangsa Melayu engages with all activities in Social, Economical, Cultural, Fund Raising, Employment, Educational, Religious and Sports for the benefits of the Malay Community. As examples we are organizing ASHURA, BAYANS. IFTHAR Ceremonies, Sporto Rama Rally, Donations, Trips, Committee Meetings, Get togethers .......
